Comprehensive Standards: Institutional Mission, Governance, and Effectiveness 3.2.12 (control of fundraising)
The institution’s chief executive officer has ultimate control of the institution’s fundraising activities.

Compliance
North Carolina State University is in compliance with this standard.

Explanation
The unit responsible for the university’s fundraising activities is the Office of University Advancement, headed by the vice chancellor for university advancement.  The vice chancellor for university advancement reports to the chancellor, as NC State University’s organizational chart illustrates.

To insure the university’s integrity, the Board of Trustees (BOT) approves all fundraising efforts undertaken on behalf of NC State University.  The BOT coordinates university fundraising, including capital fundraising campaigns, annual fundraising campaigns, and agreements with affiliated entities.  Moreover, the BOT develops fundraising policy, approves all development activities, and recommends guidelines for and approves the naming of all university owned facilities.  These responsibilities may be delegated to the BOT’s development committee.
